Harry Potter head-cannon: Magical Folk eventually start using those urns that use cremated human remains to grow trees, specifically they grow wand trees, resulting in very powerful wands that have some trains of the witch or wizard from which the tree grew. So if the witch/wizard was good at defensive spells, the wand would would have an affinity for defensive spells.
