Are you seriously so ignorant on both alcoholism and the way it’s been used by settler colonialism as to try to blame rampant alcoholism on Native Americans? The whites have been trying to force that shit on us for CENTURIES. They used to get NDNs drunk so they could get them to sign treaties. They’ll zone reservations in food deserts so that alcohol is literally the cheapest thing around. Collusion between the U.S. Federal government and alcohol merchants is blatant and has been long term. Not to mention that when you live on a place with 3-10x higher suicide rates, the lowest average life span, 3x the rate of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome and is often radioactive (100% of nuclear testing takes place on or near reservations). Also, White Clay has been devastated by economic pressures that make most food unable to be bought. With a lack of food and massive social pressures, alcohol is sought. Psychological studies show that when you deprive people of healthy social environments (mental illness, death and poverty) they turn to narcotics.
