about gay panic/trans panic defense

lesbocracy:

• both are expressly illegal only in California (though for some reason Tumblr doesn’t ever talk about the former)
• it doesn’t mean you can ‘legally be murdered’ outside of California
• it means that legally, someone can try to use that defense in their trial
• it does not mean the defense will be successful
• actually it is, generally, a very poor defense strategy  
• stop telling LGBTQ teenagers on tumblr that they can legally be murdered wtf is wrong with you
