listen america, marriage equality is an important issue, especially for disabled people and immigrants cause it opens a lot of doors for health insurance and residency/citizenship, so dont let anyone convince you that this step “doesnt matter” and “is just for cis gay men”
but don’t let anyone ELSE convince you that this is it. trans panic is still legal. it is still legal to be fired for being gay or trans. it is still dangerous/impossible to change your gender on legal documents. it is still unsafe to be open to the public, most notably for trans women of color.
this is a good step but its not even remotely close to the only one. don’t pack it in here. get ready for phase two.
